Gateway Finale Caps 2025 Campaign for Herrington

HAWKINSVILLE, Ga. (Dec. 9, 2025) — Hawkinsville, Ga., native Wil Herrington capped his 2025 season this past weekend at the Gateway Dirt Nationals in St. Louis, Mo., driving the Jason Welshan-owned Savage Chassis. On Friday night, Herrington qualified seventh in Group A, finished fourth in Heat 1 after starting third, and went on to win B-Main 1 to earn a starting spot in the main event. His feature run ended early when contact with fellow Georgian Donald McIntosh broke a rear axle tube, relegating him to an official 14th-place finish. On Saturday, Herrington finished fourth in Qualifier 4 and eighth in the Last Chance race, falling just short of making the weekend finale.

Herrington’s 2025 season featured six feature wins across crate and super late model competition as he continued to expand his racing footprint. He scored two super late model victories in the Bruce Kane-owned No. 15K, including a $10,000 triumph at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Ala., and a win at Potomac Speedway in Maryland. His crate late model success came in the Kenny Limrick-owned No. 5, where he added multiple victories in regional action. In total, Herrington’s 2025 campaign included six wins, 68 events, 19 top-five finishes and 28 top-10 finishes.

At his home track, Cochran Motor Speedway in Cochran, Ga., Herrington collected three feature wins — one in the street stock division and two in the crate late model ranks in the Limrick-owned No. 5. He also added a CRUSA 604 feature victory at Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, Ga.

Looking ahead to 2026, Herrington plans another ambitious schedule with a strong mix of regional crate and super late model events. The Georgia driver expects to continue building on this year’s gains, returning to familiar venues while also targeting additional new tracks and higher-profile races in the Southeast and beyond.

Herrington also extends a special thank-you to car owners Jason Welshan, Kenny Limrick, Bruce Kane, Leon Childs and Monkey Hatcher for their support and confidence throughout the 2025 campaign. Their efforts in providing competitive equipment and opportunities were instrumental in the team’s success.

Herrington extends his appreciation to the partners who made the 2025 season possible: Harvey Trucking; New Point Lighting and Design; 5M Construction; Rocket Chassis; ML Performance; Last Air and Electrical; Dexter Meat Co; Boswell Oil; Joey Reynolds Trucking; Limrick Truck and Equipment Repair; Fast Shafts; Mathews Construction; Langenfelder Mechanical; Scotty’s Muffler; Martin Industrial Contractors; JRAM; BT Barber; and My Race Pass.
