Wil Herrington kicks off 2026 with fifth-place charge in Sunshine Nationals finale

Opening his 2026 race season down in Florida, Wil Herrington joined a field of 104 Crate Racin' USA entries on Thursday afternoon at Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.) for the three-day Sunshine Nationals.

Wil finished third in the opening preliminary round on Thursday and then wound up 12th in the prelim feature on Friday. After winning a last chance showdown, Herrington started 23rd in the finale on Saturday and rounded out the Top-5 in fifth. He trailed Michael Page, Justin Williams, Hayden Cardwell, and Mario Gresham.
